Im Jahre 2010 passiert es nicht selten, dass man im Radio Musik hört, in der leger Rhythmen aus Serbien und Kolumbien mit der Stimme von Oumo Sangeré und dem melodischen Stoss von Maori-Reggae fusioniert wird. Aber wenn es um die "Neue Welt-Musik" geht, also das Fusionieren von DJ-Culture mit dem Underground-Sound der Welt - dann steht der Name Gotan Project für die Pionier-Arbeit das Traditionelle und das Folkloristische mit dem elektronischen Raum in Verbindung zu bringen. Ihrem Millionen-Seller "La Revancha Del Tango" folgte das zweite Album, das Jazz beeinflusste "Lunático" -und Gotan Project tourten um die Welt, um ihren "Neue Welt Musik"-Sound zum Besten zu geben.
Hier sind Gotan Project nun, zehn Jahre später, mit ihrem bemerkenswerten dritten Album "Tango 3.0", das, ohne den gleichen radikalen Pionier-Anspruch des Debüts zu haben, die Grund-Elemente dessen, was Gotan Project so wundervoll macht, neu definiert...
Obwohl Gotan Project auf "Tango 3.0" ihren Gründungs-Prinzipien treu bleiben, erweitern sie ihren Sound, u.a. mit Hilfe zahlreicher illustrer Gäste: Dr.John verleiht "Tango Square" mit dem smoothen Klang seiner Hammond B3 einen Hauch des alten New Orléans. Das Werk des argentinischen Autors Julio Cortázar wird durch die Lektüre seines bahnbrechenden Romans "Rayuela" im gleichnamigen Track gewürdigt. Auch Victor Hugo Morales, der legendäre Argentinische Fussball-Kommentator, ist zu hören auf der ersten Single- Auskopplung von "Tango 3.0" -"La Gloria". Aus "GOOOOAL!" wird bei ihm "GOOOOTAN!".
