Reviews

This is an excellent introduction to Electronic tango in a wide range of styles. For the serious afficionado you may have heard these before: my favourite tracks are: whatever lola wants(sarah vaughan); narigon (daniel melingo),vi luz y subi (carlos libedinsky)kisses from paris (cool water). These tracks alone make it worth having but there is a lot of other good stuff on here too and its easily my most played cd of 2006!

Knapp drei Jahre nach Herausgabe von Volume 1 hat uns im September letzten Jahres Volume 2 einer Electrotango-Compilation erreicht, die wirklich die Bedürfnisse von Tangotänzern und DJs trifft.

Zunächst ist da die Stückauswahl: es sind so ziemlich alle Größen des Electrotangos vertreten, von Gotan Project über Bajofondo und Otros Aires zu Tanghetto - und das mit ihren jeweils besten Stücken - eine Auswahl, die anderen Compilations merklich schwerer fällt. Aber auch der Electrotango-Fan entdeckt das ein oder andere neue Stück: Tango de amor (Magda de Navarrette), Kisses from Paris (Cool Water) oder auch Sudacas (Maquinal Tango mit der unvergleichlichen Stimme von Juan Carlos Caceres) sind Stücke, die sich vom oftmals gehörten Elektrotango-Einheitsbrei abheben.

Zugleich ist die Anordnung liebevoll und nutzbar gestaltet: dubbig mit Übergang zum Sprechgesang z.B. das Eröffnungsstück Pequeno Paria (Daniel Melingo), mit typischem Wummer-Bass zu Melodie-Fragmenten Su Melodia (Federico Aubele) und schließlich rhythmisch-beschwingt Malevo (Tango Conspiracy) - eine solche Tanda ist unwiderstehlich. Und auch das vorsichtige Kürzen von Intros und zu langen Stücken hat der Zusammenstellung gut getan.

Sinnvoll ist auch, dass der DJ den Einsatz der CD vorgibt: von loungiger Trainings- oder Milonga-Start-Musik ("Lounge Side"; zwei CDs) über belebte Tanzmusik ("Club Side") bis hin zum Chill-Out nach der Milonga ("After hours") findet sich genug für alle Bedürfnisse.

Auch die Optik gefällt: Graphische Tango-Pop-Art-Verschnitte, schön in Schwarz-Rot bzw. Schwarz-Gelb, a bisserl Siebziger-Style mit 90er-Verschitt: Bilder, die man sich als Druck auch beruhigt ins Wohnzimmer hängen könnte. Genauso wertig gestaltet sind die Künstler-Informationen auf dem eingehefteten Booklet: so erfährt man das Ursprungsland der Stücke, Leben und Kontaktdaten der Künstler, und den Kurzinhalt einiger Stücke ("prostitutes, procurers, hooligans and thieves - at the end a bandoneón is stolen" - kürzer hat noch niemand La podrida zusammengefasst).

Fazit: DJ Ralph "von" Richthofen hat ganze Arbeit geleistet. Für Tangotänzer - gerade Anfänger, die sich eine kleine Sammlung aufbauen wollen - bietet eine der beiden CDs die Auswahl der besten Stücke der letzten Jahre. Für Lehrer ist die CD die angenehme Möglichkeit, ohne eigene Musikauswahl ins Training zu gehen. Und DJs entdecken das ein oder andere Stück, das sie noch nicht kannten, oder können Tandas einfach so übernehmen.
