Schönes Wortspiel, gute Tangos allemal, ein junges ambitioniertes Ensemble, das zum Zeitpunkt dieses Debuts (2002) bereits seit fünf Jahren existierte. Neue Lüfte wehen dem Zuhörer auf dieser Einspielung indes nur insoweit um die Nase, als sich der Bogen des interpretierten Materials von der alten Garde bis zum Tango Nuevo spannt und auf Letzterem der Schwerpunkt liegt. Vielleicht weckt der Name zu weitgehende Erwartungen, hier eine zeitgenössisch-avantgardistische Tangoform vorzufinden, was nicht der Fall ist. Vielmehr ist dies eine vergleichsweise konventionelle Darbietung.
Bestückt ist das Quintett mit vier talentierten Instrumentalisten (Gitarre, Flöte, Piano, Kontrabaß) und einer Sängerin mit abgedunkeltem, leicht angerauhtem Timbre und guten genre-adäquaten gesanglichen Anlagen und Ausdrucksmöglichkeiten. Auf fünf Titeln ist ein Bandoneónspieler als Gast mit dabei. Allesamt sind sie bei uns noch unbekannt. Herausragend sind der Gitarrist Javier Perez Forte, der auf seinem elektroakustischen Instrument vor allem in zwei Duo-Titeln (Cuesta Abajo, Milonga Nostra) hervorsticht sowie die Pianistin Mariana Bevacqua mit intelligenter, pointierter Begleitakkordik und einer ansprechenden, verjazzten Piano-Solo-Version von ?Fuimos?.
Das Programm ist kurzweilig zusammengestellt, ebenso schön zu hören wie dazu zu tanzen (14 Tangos, 2 Milongas, 1 Vals).
Bekannte Vorlagen (darunter Cambalache, La ultima curda, Sur, Ballada Para Un Loco) wechseln sich ab mit unbekanntem, aber interessantem Material, vor allem aber mit drei ausgenommen gelungenen Eigentiteln: ?Las Rosas de ayer?, ?Grito Final? (von Mariana und Hugo Bevacqua) und ?Ad Hoc? (von Forte), letzterer eine echte Tango-Nuevo-Perle.
