2. Music from Cuba
Salsa Cubana by Gilito, who is from Cuba but he has lived in Sweden since
1995. Still, listening to his music it becomes quite obvious that he and his
musicians (some of them played with Issac Delgado) haven't forgotten how
to draw people to the dancefloor.
Gilito: Al César lo que es del César
Timba from Cuba. Maikel Blanco is the author of all titles of this CD. Unlike
other live CDs this recording presents almost only new tracks. Let yourself
be carried away by the great live atmosphere and the band's drive:
Maikel Blanco y su Salsa Mayor: Live desde la Casa de la Música
This CD is not really made for the dancefloor, but for listening and enjoying.
Cuban artists like Cachaito López, Carlos Varela, Liuba María Hevia, Los
Van Van, X Alfonso and Amauri Pérez interpret songs by the songwriter and
poet Joan Manuel Serrat from Catalonia. Vol. 1 of this production was
nominated for the Latin Grammy in 2005.
Varios: Cuba le Canta a Serrat Vol. 2 (2 CD)
3. DVDs by Nicole Nau and Luis Pereyra
There are two DVDs by Nicole Nau and Luis Pereyra we would like to
recommend to you: "Tango! Bailando en Soledad..." and "Curso de Folklore
Argentino". The first DVD shows beautiful stage tango, more precisely
performances of Tango scenes with titles like "El Espíritu", "El Encuentro"
or "El Patio". This DVD makes you indulge yourself in the interpretations of
the charismatic dancers.
Tango! Bailando en Soledad..
The second DVD is an instructional DVD for dances like Chacarera, Gato,
Escondido and also Tango. It shows the many facets of Argentinian folklore.
For dancers who are not exclusively interested in Tango Argentino.
(Languages: English, German and Spanish. Pal/ NTSC)
Curso de Folklore Argentino
Anne Kathrin Reiff writes about the two artits: "The dance of Nicole Nau
and Luis Pereyra is not only a declaration of love to Tango but also a
declaration of love to the country Argentina. [...]"
