DYM - Tangonews 24th of June
Dear friends of Tango Argentino!
11.11.1890 - 24.06.1935
These dates mark the birth and death of one of the best-known and sparkling
personalities of TANGO ARGENTINO, called “El Zorzal Criollo” :
Charles Romuald Gardès, or CARLOS GARDEL
This newsmail wants to remember the ill-starred day 69 years ago, when a plane
accident in Medellin/ Colombia caused the tragic death of Carlos Gardel.
The following CDs is one of the best collections of his work and it contains the
famous song “SILENCIO” which is played continuously close to the Gardel statue
at ‘La Chacarita’ the cemetery of Buenos Aires. The statue always holds a lighted
cigarette as a gesture of the artist’s immortality.

A different sort of resuscitation was made by the small label “MYRON
RECORDS” from Belgium by finally re-releasing the CD “Liberata” of the
Quintetto TANGO AL SUR. The first CD “Van Esbroeck; Masondo” is still very
popular
