Music from Cape Verde has not yet received fully attention like the
Cuban music since Buena Vista Social Club. Although it’s perfect start with
Cesaria Evora seems to shine brightly, there was nothing afterwards.
Only until now, because LURA, the young singer, will surely deserve the long
awaited success and fame with her “body and soul” stripped down songs.
The Extra-DVD is showing a live-concert, in order to prepare everybody for her
european-tour this fall 2005.

Since J. Ventura did not come up with new material in the past time, we are

At length we have a new TANGO-NUEVO highlight to let you know about.
The quartett OTROS AIRES from Buenos Aires creates a wonderful
combination between old tango-recordings of early 20’ century and modern
electronic-samples. Especially the famous Gardel songs (f.e. Milonga
Sentimental) are respectfully modernized.

Of course not every young argentine musician is busying with Electro-Tango.
After recent success of the Orchesta EL ARRANQUE and FERNANDEZ
FIERRO shows their interesting versions of Classic-Tangos, others are
following this direction. NEOTANGO is such kind of orchesta, that’s perfectly
clever includes prominently support of NESTOR MARCONI and GUILLERMO
FERNANDEZ.

The Bandoneonist & Drummer Fernando Samalea is not unknown anymore to
the NEO-TANGO scene. He already belongs to the artists-compound of Daniel
Melingo, Maria Eva Albistur & Luciano Supervielle that rejuvenates the
TANGO-NUEVO. With this CD he renders his fascination for the magic of
tarot-cards and bewitches us with his marvelous mixture of Tango/Jazz and
Electronic/Pop.

2.4. ASTOR PIAZZOLLA - PIAZZOLLA & AMELITA BALTAR
Finally we have found it:
The remastered version of one of the most terrific recordings of
Mr. TANGO-NUEVO himself (ASTOR PIAZZOLLA) together with Amelita
Baltar. After the huge success of the opera “Maria de Buenos Aires” both
immediately recognised that their combination of Baltars’ soulful voice and
Piazzollas’ Bandoneon is good for more. They recorded these songs 1974 and 2
bonus-tracks in 1969 that oncemore made clear how intensive and passionate
Piazzollas’-Tangos are.
