Salve! Benvenuto da Danza Y Movimiento!
This is the first surprise for 2003: From now on you will find a little Italian flag in the menu of our shop. A click leads you to the Italian translation of our shop. Of course, this is mainly interesting for our Italian customers, but maybe also for people who would like to learn a little Italian...
The newsletter, though, does only exist in English or German so far. Please choose between these two languages.
Talking about Italy: You can find information on some interesting Italian Tango CDs and an Italian book further down on this page!
Longing for sun?
In Germany it has become quite cold outside, but, at least, we can dream of going South and of warm summer nights. The perfect CD for daydreaming is the compilation: "Me gusta así: Temas de Juan Almeida". This is an excellent Cuban sampler with Cuban top musicians: Issac Delgado, David Calzado y la Charanga Habanera, Omara Portuondo, Haila Mompie, Chucho Valdés, Adalberto Alvarez y su Son and Silvio Rodríguez. Salsa, Bolero, Timba... all the titles were composed by Juan Almeida who is one of the renowned Cuban artists.

In the mood for travelling?
Tango travellers already know it: There are interesting Tango orchestras and magnificent Tango dancers all over the world, not only in Argentina. The Tango Argentino is for example very popular in Italy. At the beginning of the 20th century, a lot of Italian emigrants searched for their private happiness in Argentina. They influenced the Argentinian culture and music tremendously. So it is not surprising at all, that Tango came back to Europe and that Tango then influenced European musicians and writers.
The Quintetto di Tango: Quejas de Bandoneon performs in the line-up flute (Cristina Bertoli), double-bass (Massimo de Stephanis), bandoneon (Marco Fabbri), piano (Monica Fini) and violin (Michela Tintoni) in order to approach the classical Tango of the Golden Age as well as the Tango Nuevo of Astor Piazzolla. Their interpretations are charming and of a high musical quality and should not be missed:

There is also Tango literature for Italian speaking Tango enthusiasts. Gloria and Rodolfo Dinzel wrote down their thoughts on Tango in a book, which is now available in three different languages: "Tango - heftige Suchenach Freiheit", "Tango - an anxious quest for freedom" and - the latest release - "Tango - quell'ansiosa ricerca della liberta". This is not an instructional book only concentrating on different steps and dance figures, but it reflects the dynamics and the tension of dancers, the emotional and psychological as well as the cultural aspects. The reader, thus, gets the opprtunity to think about his own personal dynamics and motivations. In this way, he obtains a deeper understanding of this charismatic dance.
