DYM - News: Schwenkglenks y los Gringos del Tango
Dear friends of Tango Argentino!
This is a very special CD, because the artist is the only musician of contemporary tango who got the chance to produce a CD with “Danza y Movimiento” in 2003. So this is our recommendation for you today:
Schwenkglenks y Los Gringos del Tango and their CD “Magali”.
In the 1980s, the musician and university lecturer became aware of Tango Argentino for the first time. His love for tango was awakened by Astor Piazzolla, but soon afterwards, he studied the grand orchstras of the 1930s and 1940s, like for example Francisco Canaro, Carlos di Sarli, Anibal Troilo and Osvaldo Pugliese. His love for the music was followed by his interest for the dance, and finally Schwenkglenks began to compose Tangos, Milongas and Valses himself. His instrumental music is made for the listener as well as the dancer. The small line-up, especially, manages to create a unique, natural charm. “New titles, at last!”, one might also exclaim and one will devote oneself to listen to the Bavarian tangueros. Don’t miss out on this experience.
The “Hamburger Morgenpost” writes: “The guitarist Jürgen Schwenkglenks moves his listeners to any bar, far away from the touristy places in Buenos Aires: pure Tango, sparse orchestration, melancholic and passionate, alternate with dances not so well known like the zippy Milonga and the romantic Vals.”
