Dear friends of Tango Argentino!
I just came back from Buenos Aires and I really feel the urge to write to you. It wasn’t my first trip to Buenos Aires, but I have to admit that I liked it even more than the times before.
One of the reasons for this circumstance is that our new partners in Argentina are really marvellous, and that when testing our new programme, I discovered that it is even better than I thought.
And Tango is changing a lot, both the music and the dance. It appears as if the economic crisis in Argentina gave a significant impulse to the artistic creativity. Some weeks ago, I still thought that innovation regarding tango would only exist outside of Argentina. But my visit to Buenos Aires made me change my opinion. You will profit concerning our travels and our music catalogue.
It has never been as attractive to travel to Buenos Aires. Because of the devaluation of the Argentinean peso, which had been linked artificially to the US dollar for many years, the country is ideal for tourists. Argentina experiences a touristic boom and the majority of the visitors is from other Latin American countries. There are only few tourists from the USA, and hardly any from Europe. What is the reason for this development? The negative reports on Argentina of the international press?
Everybody who enjoys good food, art, books, inexpensive CDs :-) and Tango should travel to Argentina immediately!
During our stay in Buenos Aires, we talked to quite a few tangueros, musicians, we took trial lessons, we visited hotels and private accomodations or stayed there for a night, we tested sightseeing tours and tourist guides. If you are only looking for accomodation in Buenos Aires and if you wish to organize everything else yourself, you will be extremely pleased with the hotels and prices, which we will inform you about within a few weeks. You will pay the hotel before arrival, thus you will not be sent away, like many travellers experienced lately, because they only had a room reservation.
You can also book private accomodations with us in the central areas of Palermo and Belgrano. The price for one night including breakfast is 10 Euro per night in a double room. A single room is 16 Euro. Besides, there is a one-time payment of 60 Euro per person for the booking of a double room, 80 Euro for the booking of a single room regardless of the lenght of your stay. Last topic for today: Safety. The media portrayed Buenos Aires as a dangerous and criminal place during the last year. I did not feel less safe than in Hamburg and a lot safer than in any other large Latin American city I know.
